For a couple of weeks now, I cannot find any articles written by Mr. Fisk in the independent or on your site. I do miss his writing as it gives me a feeling -the pulse- about the Middle East and World policies.

Is Mr. Fisk on vacation?

Expecting and Wishing to read you, soon.

Thanks for all the writing you do. Reading your articles and point of views renew my optimism about news media and integrity in reporting.

Dear Mr. Fisk,

As an American who is deprived of reading, viewing and hearing balanced reporting from the U.S. media I salute you for your courage and honesty

I am sure it comes as no secret to you that our Media is dominated by a clique influenced by a determined group of so called neo conservatives who want to redraw the map of the Middle East to suit their interests. Regrettably neither group places the interests of the United States ahead of their own misguided agenda.

God bless you and keep on with the good work.

I have been reading Robert Fisk's articles recently at robert-fisk.com. I

would like to thank him extensively for the bold articles that tell the truth.

I hope he can keep up his excellent journalism for a long, long time so that

people like us get to know the truth. His reports are such a refreshing change

Dear editor, (please forward to R.Fisk)

I'm a journalist from Lebanon currently living in Toronto and working on an article about war correspondents for the Ryerson Review of Journalism published in Toronto, Canada.(It's a prestigious prize-winning North American magazine, whose masthead are the students of the magazine stream of the Ryerson's journalism program).

I would be more than grateful if you just forward this email to Robert Fisk, whose articles are a strong source of reference for me while writing my article.

Dear Mr. R. Fisk

I won't take your time by making a long preamble about your outstanding work as a journalist, unquestionably exemplary for me. I would really appreciate to have your weight in my article about foreign reporters who work in war zones, especially that I'm using your articles published in Independent as a source.

The focus of my article is why war reporters are increasingly becoming targets in battlefields rather than accidental victims. I've already read and used your points of view regarding this issue. But what I would value more is an original quote from you about why you've become a war reporter and remained in your job despite the inevitable danger it entails.

The article (for which I've interviewed most Canadian war reporters and Jim Maceda of NBC) will appear in Ryerson Review's Spring 2003 issue and my deadline is due 15 January 2003.

I would be thrilled to have your direct input and have a nice holiday in whatever troubled land you are working on right now.

Great article,

I think Mr. Fisk should have also included the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting

only objective source of news in Canada. Now you can add it to the list

Pro-Israeli media mouth piece.

As a Canadian Tax payer , I am sick to my stomach when I am forced to look

Dear Sir,

My thanks for the work of Robert Fisk. I am currently cutting my teeth

writing articles for the Palestine Chronicle, and see Fisk as a role model

and inspiration. Any advice for how one might follow in his footprints

would be most welcome.

I will soon be interviewing Nasser Abufarha, a Diaspora Palestinian living

in Madison Wisconsin, who has founded Alternative Palestinian Agenda

(www.ap-agenda.org). Mr. Abufarha has developed a plan for peace in Israel

based on studies of demographics, land and water use, managed an

international lecture series to explore peace, hosted an international peace

conference of Palestinians in Madison and is looking to help sponsor a

second and larger conference closer to the Middle East itself.

I KNOW that Mr. Fisk must be extremely busy, but I beg a boon of him, should

he actually have a moment. Could he suggest questions for the interview

that he knows to be important questions that need to be aired. I ask this

because I know Fisk to be an expert on the matter of Israel/Palestine, and a

generally all round great guy...

Subject: Sept 11 events and attack on Iraq

Date: Thu, 19 Dec 2002 20:26:35 IST

Dear Sir,

I am Shaikh A.......(Paksiatni citizen) from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and I am deeply grieved by the tragic events that took place on Sept. 11 2001. Thousands of people were killed, thousands of children were orphaned, countless people lost their jobs, their businesses, their means of survival.

Therefore i seek that the people responsible for the 11 Sept. bloodbath be brought to justice, and the punishment meted out to them be as horrific as the sin they have committed. A punishment so terrifying that no one in the future ever dares to even dream of commitiing an act such as this.

I am deeply grieved, profoundly saddened by the attack on the USA, by the subsequent events in the world in general and Afghanistan in particular, for the people who have been killed and indeed are still being killed regardless of whether they are American, Afghan, Pakistani or whoever.

That is why I seek that the conspiracy that resulted in 11 Sept. be uncovered and those who concocted it be brought to severe justice.

I have concrete evidence that all this was planned since it had been published, word for word, in a newspaper dated 1999. The reporter who revealed this plan should be summoned in court and asked as to how did he discover the events of the future two years before they occured.

Thousands of innocents were led to their deaths, including the USA government's own countrymen, their fellow Americans.

The newspaper in my possession makes it my duty to do all i can to bring the instigators of this evil scheme to the fore, to expose them to the world, that these evil-doers be led to the punishment they deserve. The news (1999) mentions certain elements:

1. The reporter claims that he obtained from reliable sources

information indicating that the United States planned to start an

operation in Afghanistan in the new millenium.

2. Before the operation was to be begun America planned to launch a

terrorist attack somewhere in the world.

3. The US would lay blame for these terrorist attacks on Osama Bin

Laden.

4. America would then attack Afghansitan using heavy missile attacks.

5. After the bombardment America would signal the Northern Alliance to

take over the political charge in Kabul.

6. All the claims mentioned in the news will be put into action by the

FBI (USA) and RAW (India).

Secondly, the news mentions that the US government gave special war equipment to Ahmed Shah Masud, weaponry that has never been used in Afghanistan before. What happened to this war equipment after the death of Ahmed Shah Masud? Is there a possibility of it having fallen into the hands of Iraq? The US government should investigate where these weapons went. Is this the reason USA wants to attack Iraq?

If this weaponry is the reason for the war on Iraq, the US government should state this clearly in the international media, that these weapons have fallen into the wrong hands who could misuse them, and that is why the US would be justified in attacking Iraq.

Because if war does take place it won't only be the Iraqis, but American military personnel and their families who will suffer.

We are ordinary people who can't change history, but if we can do anything to protect humanity from dangerous games played by certain power-hungry people then we must do all we can to stop them.

I have nothing against the United States of America, but I am against the authority due to the news mentioned above, because the US government is killing its own innocent countrymen. Please do whatever you can to save the world from disaster. We are all with you.

If you have any further query you may contact me on my email address below.

Sincerely,

Shaikh A.... A.......

Dear Mr. Fisk,

The Network of Arab-American Professionals (NAAP), a community of young

Arabs and Arab-Americans working in a number of professions, cordially

invites you to be one of the key participants at NAAP’s First Annual

Conference on January 17-20, 2003 to be held at George Washington

University in Washington, DC.. Our website can be viewed at

Mr. Fisk, I recognize that you probably get many such requests, but I hope

you make the time to join us in that this forum will allow you to reach the

topics that will be discussed include supporting the student movement;

coordinating with other Washington, D.C.-based organizations; lobbying and

being effective in the U.S. political system; highlighting the successes of

Arab American professionals; and exploring business opportunities in the

Middle East.

Accordingly, given the importance of this conference, I am writing to you

requesting your honorable presence as a keynote speaker. As a leader in

our community, we look upon you as an expert on these topics and hope that

you would be able to share with our audience with your knowledge and

The man is amazing and his ability to keep OUR feet on the ground is a godsend. He writes too few articles and, even at his occasionally turgid self, he has to be read from beginning to end. We in New Zealand get too few articles from him. More frequently in the Wellington newspaper, The Dominion Post, and much less frequently, in the weekly publication, The Listener. I often wonder if we miss out on some of his writings, and is there occasionally some sort of censorship, but I have no more that an un substantiable hunch that it may occur.

But this "war on terrorism" has us all jumpy, I guess. He suggests that thwar is inevitable, and my worry is that the somewhat limited intellectually George Bush is being driven by fanatics in the not too back background.

After reading Fisk I always feel that those who have doubts about the efficacy of Bush's policies are not being heard enough, that we are being constatnly bombarded by propaganda, propaganda, propaganda.

Perhaps I am too pessimistic - how wonderful it would be if I were!

Subject: How to Avert the War

Date: Wed, 11 Dec 2002 05:42:27 IST

Dear Robert Fisk,

Thanks you for your enormous contribution to...well, the truth. Regarding Israel, Palestine, Washington and the messy situation created by our leadership. Gonna get worse unless something is done.

Bush is out of control. Congress is unresponsive. There remains, however, other governmental bodies in our country which, however remote from Washington, do represent the will of their constituencies and they are city councils. If enough resolutions protesting the war are pass, it becomes a media event with accelerating national attention. As this happens, more and more cities sign on. City council members are not beholden to AIPAC, the munitions, oil industries. or the like.

Upon reading on MSANEWS that Ann Arbor was the 22d city to pass such a resolution, I requested similar action from my own city council of Denver. Imagine what would happen if 100 or 250 or 1000 cities in America issued a formal written declaration against the war. This would be a tough nut for the hawks to crack. Would such a campaign work? I don't know, but nothing else seems to be working. It's the perfect example of that good old bumper sticker slogan: "Think globally, act locally."

If you think the idea is worth pursuing, and if I can help, please let me know,

Thanks for everything,

Yours sincerely,

Standish D. La......

PS: Text of my note to Denver City Council pasted below:

I am deeply concerned about the aggressive trajectory of our country's foreign policy. I do not believe the government is following the will of the people. Congress is paralyzed by the same forces which control President Bush, namely the coordinated efforts of: 1) the inner-circle hawks such as Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Jerry Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Elliot Cohen, et al., 2) the Israeli lobby, 3) the oil industry, 4) the munitions industry and 5) the religious right such as Pat Robinson, Jerry Falwell. The media is ensnared and muzzled by the same forces. This remarkable coup has happened almost overnight and the American public hasn't a clue, much less a voice in the matter. Our elected representatives don't represent us. We do not want and do not need this war. How to stop this madness?

I am asking for your help in proposing a city council resolution stating simply that that Denver opposes the war. Because Congress cannot deliver this message, it falls on city council across the land to speak out. It is absolutely unprecedented in history for a country's leadership to go to war when cities in that country have formally voted in opposition to the war. Ann Arbor recently became the 22d city to pass such a resolution. Denver must do the same. Other cities will follow. The disaster facing our planet can be averted.

Please let me know how we can proceed with the introduction of such a resolution.

Thanking you in advance,

Respectfully,

Dear Mr Fisk,

I was fortunate enough to have been present at the talk you gave at

University College Cork some time back. I found it both interesting and

informative.

I am an M.A. student in International Studies in Limerick. Over the past

month or two the course has touched on many similar issues. At times it

feels like 'bash America hour' whether rightly or wrongly. This has made

some the American students in the class feel uncomfortable while one or two

have said that their eyes have been opened to what their government has been

up to.

I felt your talk opened up the eyes of many that night in Cork. I wish you

continued success in bringing these matters to the attention of the world.

Does your courage ever wane? You are dealing with sensitive issues and

major interests. You highlighted some of the threats against you, does this

type of life ever overwhelm you?

Its something that I've always wanted to know because given my character and

the direction i am headed in, i believe i could someday be in a similar

situation.I only hope that i have the courage of my convictions.

I respect the fact that you are extremely busy and I will understand if you

are unable to respond. I wish you continued success.Take care.

Hello Robert,

I'm writing to you regarding a recent article knocked up by Frontpage Magazine [www.frontpagemag.com]. It's titled "Islam's Nazi Connections" by Serge Trifkovic. What's disturbing is that in order to make their readers convinced about what they are saying in that article, they've taken an old Hamas picture and edited it by placing swastikas on their headbands. I'm including the three pictures with this email. One is original Hamas picture, the other is Frontpage Magazine's edited version that's on their frontpage and the third picture shows you how the it was spotted as fake because of the poor editing spotted in the third picture.

Hope you read this email. Keep up the great work. I wish more journalists were as independent and impartial as you are with your work.

Date: Mon, 02 Dec 2002 20:47:30 IST

Hi!

I´d like to get some more information about the war (in the 80´s) in

Lebanon.

My husband who´s from Lebanon saw an interview with Mr Fisk on television

here in Sweden. And he has a brother who is missing since the war. So he

would like to get all the information he could about the war. He has heard

that Mr Fisk was filming in Lebanon during that time..and he´d like to buy

(if it´s possible) films or books about it.

Do you have any information about that?

Thank you//Paula S.......

Subject: Sabra chatila anniversary article

To Whom It May Concern:

I thought you might wish to post my article regarding a visit I made earlier

this year to the Palestinian refugee camps Sabra and Chatila with my former

colleague Robert Fisk. Both of us reported on the massacres in the camps for

our respective news organizations. If you wish to access it, the article is

on the September 18 edition of Counterpunch.org.to coincide with the

twentieth anniversary of the massacres. Others have accessed it for their

websites so I am sure there would be no problem should you wish to add it to

your files.

Regards, Peggy T........
